Artificial sweetener aspartame cancer risks do exist.
Updated: Apr 1, 2022

Artificial sweeteners DO increase your risk of cancer.
Higher consumers of artificial sweeteners have a 13% greater risk of cancer. Specifically aspartame increases the risk of all cancesr by 15% and acesulfame-K increases the risk of cancer by 13%.
European researchers found Aspartame use increased the risk of breast cancer by 22%.
Aspartame, distributed under several trade names (e.g., NutraSweet® and Equal®), was approved in 1981 by the FDA after initial research showed no increased cancer risks. Newer longer, much larger human medical studies now question the original research results.
Honey and stevia are better beverages sweetener alternatives. Check out the recent post on honey.
