Citrus fruit increases the risk of skin cancer. What is the impact of citrus on your particular cancer challenge? Leave a comment or message us.

Citrus fruit and juice consumption increases the risk of the skin cancers melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Spending more time outside and exposing more skin to sunlight while consuming citrus increases the skin cancer risks.

If you have personal or family history of skin cancer and you spend anytime in the sunshine you should limit your citrus intake to less than one serving per week.

Citrus products are rich sources of furocoumarins, a class of photoactive compounds. Certain furocoumarins combined with ultraviolet radiation can induce skin cancer.
